Ubisoft named one of its six cancelled games; leaks and insiders filled in the rest

Weeks after Ubisoft cancelled six games in its January restructuring, only one has been officially named: the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. Outlook Respawn on 15 February set out the other five as they have leaked: Project Ether, believed to be at Ubisoft Halifax and in development since 2019; Project Pathfinder, previously known as Project U; Project Crest, a World War II extraction shooter; and two mobile titles, Assassin's Creed Rebellion, whose support is ending, and Assassin's Creed Singularity. Ubisoft has not confirmed those names.

MobileSyrup, reporting the announcement on 21 January, kept to Ubisoft's own description of the others as three new IPs and a mobile title, cancelled because they did not meet the company's “new enhanced quality” standard. Players, a Ukrainian site, reported that the insider xj0nathan wrote on X on 24 January that his source said the remake was “fini à 99,99%”, with only a few bugs left to fix. It also relayed Tom Henderson's account of “serious internal communication issues” behind the decision.

How each outlet framed it

  • Outlook Respawn — the full leaked list, set against strong 2025 results for remakes such as Oblivion and Metal Gear Solid 3, and the CEO's description of a “major reset”.
  • MobileSyrup — the confirmed facts and the remake's timeline: Ubisoft Pune in 2020, Ubisoft Montreal in 2022, a restart from scratch in 2023.
  • Players — insider claims about how close the remake was to release.

Where the numbers differ: The leaked list includes two mobile titles, while Ubisoft spoke of one. Players' headline said the remake was 99% complete; the post it cited said 99.99%.
