Phone-free schools: as a retired teacher I'm cheering from my porch!

Lots of schools near me are going phone-free this fall, phones locked in pouches all day. I taught middle school for 31 years and I wish we'd done this a decade ago!

My last few years before retiring, I spent half of every class asking kids to put phones away. The kids aren't the problem, the notifications are designed to win. I'd love to hear from current students and parents. Does it actually help?
