Gamescom Opening Night Live: a Witcher 3 remaster, Metro 2039 and Gears of War on 6 October
Gamescom's Opening Night Live, the two-hour showcase hosted by Geoff Keighley on the eve of the Cologne fair, closed with the world premiere of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a final expansion for the 2015 game. Windows Central reported that a Witcher 3 Remastered edition arrives on 29 September with all past updates and DLC, free for owners of a digital copy from the previous console generation.
Windows Central's Xbox and PC list was led by Gears of War: E-Day, out on 6 October exclusively on Xbox, PC and Game Pass, along with Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall on 24 September, Rayman Legends Retold on 1 October, Path of Exile 2's 1.0 release on 11 December and Metro 2039 in February 2027.
GosuGamers covered the wider show: a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII: Revelation with Vincent and Cid, Ubisoft's Heroes of Might and Magic 3 remake and turn-based Rainbow Six Tactics, a Turok revival, Mega Man: Dual Override, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and a Hitman Elusive Target starring Snoop Dogg. It described the stream as “packed to the brim with trailers and announcements for upcoming games.”
How each outlet framed it
- Windows Central — a dated shopping list for Xbox and PC players, led by Gears.
- GosuGamers — the full sweep of reveals across all platforms, including HoYoverse's Petit Planet and Ananta.
Where the numbers differ: Windows Central dated Exodus to 7 April 2027 and Final Fantasy VII: Revelation to spring 2027; GosuGamers had Exodus only for later in 2027 and gave no date for Revelation.
