Korea treats missing adults as 'runaways'?? I had no idea!

Just read the post on South Korea re-checking 310,000 missing persons cases! An officer on Jeju closed a woman's file about two and a half hours after she was reported missing, and she was found 104 days later, only 400 metres from where she stayed. That's heartbreaking!

What surprised me most: under Korean law, only children, autistic people and people with dementia or mental disabilities are formally treated as missing. Other adults are classed as 'runaways', with no automatic phone tracking. Is it similar in Japan? I honestly don't know!
