My dad was on dialysis for four years. The pig kidney story hit different

Dad did dialysis three days a week for four years before he passed. Four hours a session, plus travel, plus recovery. He used to say the machine owned his calendar.

Reading that Tim Andrews could cook, vacuum and walk his dog again on a pig kidney, I got a bit teary in the car park at work. Nine months of normal life is not nothing.

I know it's one patient and it's early. Just wanted to share why this one matters to some of us.
