BlizzCon returns after three years: Diablo 5 in 2029, a StarCraft shooter in 2030
Blizzard held its first fan convention since 2023, with the BlizzCon Opening Ceremony in Anaheim on Saturday 12 September. PC Gamer reported the two longest-range reveals: Diablo 5, due in spring 2029 and set about a century after Diablo 4 in a Sanctuary already conquered by Diablo, and a story-driven open-world StarCraft shooter due in 2030.
Nearer releases included World of Warcraft: Forever on 4 November, Hearthstone's Reign of the Black Empire expansion on 20 October, Heroes of the Storm's new hero Xal'atath on 28 September and a Warcraft III: Forsaken Kingdom campaign released the same day. PC Gamer said Diablo 4 will get no more expansions but will keep its seasons and add an Amazon class next year. A Diablo animated series for Netflix was also announced.
