The centenarian post is a happy record, and I am glad the news can be positive for once. 56 years in a row of new highs.

But as someone in his seventies, I read it differently from a foreign reader. The real question for my friends is not how long we will live, but how well, and who will look after us. The post notes that neither report says how many live independently. That is the number I want to see.
