Is tipping getting out of hand everywhere or just where I am?

Went to buy a coffee in Rotterdam and the card machine asked for 10, 15 or 20%. For a coffee. That I picked up from the counter myself.

We never really tipped like this in the Netherlands. Is the US tip screen thing taking over the world, or am I just old (I'm 26)?
