La Bola Negra winning People's Choice is bigger than it looks

TheWrap made the point that it's the first non-English-language winner since 2011, and that 16 of the last 18 People's Choice winners went on to a best picture nomination. Five won.

That's a strong track record for a Spanish drama inspired by an unfinished Lorca play, from two directors who already won best director at Cannes. Netflix bought it, so it'll get a push. I'm cautiously very excited, if that's a thing.
