PSA: turn off motion smoothing before movie night, I'm begging you

Went to a friend's place, put on a gorgeous film, and it looked like it was shot on a phone at a school play. Classic motion smoothing. Every new TV ships with it on by default.

It's called different things by each brand: TruMotion, Motionflow, Auto Motion Plus, etc. Usually under picture settings, sometimes hiding inside a 'clarity' menu. Look for 'Filmmaker Mode' too if your TV has it, it turns off most of the processing in one go.

Leave it on for sports if you like. For films, turn it off. Your friends will thank you, or at least stop squinting.
