Parent-teacher conferences should come with a referee

Teacher, 14 years. Last week I had back-to-back meetings where one parent wanted their kid challenged more, and the very next parent said I was pushing too hard. Same assignment. Same class.

I love my job, I really do. But somebody explain to me why every parent thinks the curriculum was written personally for their child.

Anyone else in a job where you have to make everyone happy at once?
