On watching the hockey final at 4am, and feeling for both sides
I stayed up for the USA and Canada final, which in Seoul meant a very early morning and a lot of coffee. I have no team in this, but it was the best game of the Games for me. Jack Hughes in 3-on-3 overtime, after Canada outshot the Americans 42-28. Hellebuyck was remarkable.
What stays with me is how differently it was told. For the Americans it is the first gold since 1980, on the anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. For Canada, the captain Crosby missed it injured, and McDavid was tournament MVP with a record 13 points and still went home with silver. That must be a very strange feeling.
Is a silver like this a heartbreak, or can Canadian fans be proud of it? I am curious how people see it.
