IMF October outlook: what it says about the UK

Retired, so I read the whole Guardian piece with my tea. For the UK: the IMF upgraded 2026 growth to 1.3%, which the Guardian frames as a "modest boost for the UK chancellor".

It's not nothing, but let's keep perspective. The same report warns about depleted oil stocks, stretched budgets and global inflation of 4.7% this year. A small upgrade in a fragile world is still a fragile world. I'd be careful with anyone treating it as a victory lap.
