The Covid care homes report: 43,000 deaths and an 'afterthought'. Hard read
I'm in Indonesia but read the whole GONOM post about the UK inquiry. More than 43,000 care home deaths involving Covid between March 2020 and July 2022. Care workers using bin bags and ponchos when PPE ran short. Do-not-attempt-CPR decisions based on age or disability without a personal assessment.
I try to see both sides in most things, and yes, it was an unprecedented situation. But the inquiry rejected the “protective ring” claim, and calling the sector an afterthought is very strong language for an official report. My thoughts are with the families.
