politics talk with my parents vs with my friends

In Vietnam my parents talk about politics carefully, mostly about prices and roads and family. My friends talk about it online with memes from many countries.

Both are fair ways, I think. My parents think of the long term, my friends think of today. Does anyone else notice this difference with their family?
