keep phone 5 years or change every 2? what u do

my phone is 4 years old now. battery is weak, maybe 70%, but everything else ok.

my coworkers all change every 2 year with the carrier plan. they say old phone is slow and not safe. i think just change battery is cheaper?

what do you do? is there real reason to buy new or it is marketing
