Flu season PSA: a few things your pharmacist wishes you knew

Flu and cold season is starting here, so a few quick, general reminders from the counter:

• Antibiotics don't work against viruses like the flu or common cold. Please don't ask for them 'just in case'.
• Check active ingredients before combining cold remedies. Many contain paracetamol, and doubling up is easy and dangerous.
• Ask about the flu vaccine if you're in a risk group; many places offer it in autumn.
• Rest and fluids are boring advice because they work.

Not a substitute for seeing your own doctor or pharmacist, of course. Stay well, everyone.
