Is it worth getting back into an MMO in 2026 or am I chasing a ghost?

I played World of Warcraft in high school and Final Fantasy XIV for a bit in 2020. I miss having a guild, the dumb jokes in voice chat, the feeling of a world that keeps going when you log off.

But I'm 27 now, I have a job and a dog who requires walks. Can a person with a normal life still enjoy an MMO, or will I just be that guy who's a year behind on gear forever? Asking for me. I'm the guy.
