Golden Globes 2026: 'One Battle After Another' wins four as 'KPop Demon Hunters' takes two

One Battle After Another was the biggest winner at the 83rd Golden Globes in Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 11. Variety counts four awards for Paul Thomas Anderson's film: best musical or comedy picture, director and screenplay for Anderson, and supporting actress for Teyana Taylor. Hamnet took best drama, and Jessie Buckley won best actress in a drama.

Boston.com noted that Hamnet beat Sinners, which many had expected to win the drama prize. Sinners still left with two awards, for its score and for box office achievement. Nikki Glaser hosted for the second year in a row. On television, Adolescence won four awards, the most of any show.

Netflix's animated hit KPop Demon Hunters won best animated film and best original song for “Golden”. EJAE, who co-wrote and sings the song, told the room she had trained for 10 years to become a K-pop idol and was rejected.

How each outlet framed it

  • Variety — a count of wins per film and show, led by Anderson's four and the four for Adolescence.
  • Boston.com — the Hamnet upset over Sinners, Glaser's monologue and a local winner, Amy Poehler.
  • Korea JoongAng Daily — the seven-person songwriting team behind “Golden” and a mixed night for Korea: Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice won none of its three categories.
  • South China Morning Post — EJAE's path from rejected trainee to award-winning songwriter.

What we don't know yet: Korea JoongAng Daily points out that Lee Byung-hun became the first Korean actor nominated for best actor in a musical or comedy, but lost to Timothée Chalamet. Whether No Other Choice can recover in the Oscar race is still open.
