Is it rude to bring your own food to a dinner party?

A question from a cultural difference at work. A new colleague is invited to a dinner at my house. She told me, very politely, she will bring her own food because she has many allergies and also she is vegan.

In France this feels a bit strange to me. The host cooks, this is the pleasure. But I also don't want to make her sick or uncomfortable.

So: in your country, is bringing your own food rude, normal, or kind? Should I cook something she can eat, or is this more stressful for her? And what do you do when you are the guest with restrictions?
