PSA: if you live alone in the UK, check the 25% council tax discount

with council tax going up 4.9% this month (average Band D in England now £2,392) i'm just putting this out there because loads of people i know don't claim it.

if you're the only adult in the property you can get 25% off. it's not automatic, you have to apply with your council. took me ten minutes online.

also worth checking: water social tariffs and broadband social tariffs if you're on certain benefits. the Which? checklist in the April post has more.
