Is the 'Gen Z at work' thing mostly a myth?

Every week I see some article about how young workers are lazy, or quit too fast, or refuse to answer emails after hours. I am 50s and I have young designers in my team.

Honestly, they are not lazy. They are clear about boundaries. Some of what older people call 'lazy' is just what we wished we could say at their age. But I also see some things that frustrate me, like expecting quick promotion.

Is the generational thing real, or is it every generation complaining about the next one?
