Udhampur: why lead with the burst tyre when 60+ were on a 42-seat bus?
I'm a bit uncomfortable with how the explanations split in the Udhampur crash coverage. The Tribune puts a sharp curve and a burst tyre first, Al Jazeera focuses on overcrowding. Both may be true, but they lead to very different conclusions about who is responsible.
A burst tyre sounds like bad luck. A bus carrying more than 60 people in 42 seats sounds like a system that allows it every day. Survivors also said the late bus was speeding. I'm not saying the officials are wrong, I just think the framing matters a lot for whether anything changes. Am I being unfair?
