Spring garden for a 7-year-old: what grows fast enough to keep her interested?
It's spring here in Queensland and my granddaughter has decided she wants 'her own garden'. I have a raised bed that's been doing nothing since my tomatoes gave up last summer.
The catch is attention span. I need things that come up quickly and do something visible so she doesn't lose heart. I'm thinking radishes, sunflowers and maybe beans on a little teepee.
Anyone done this with small children? What worked, what was a disappointment? I'd love to hear especially from people in warm climates, since a lot of the advice I find online seems written for English gardens.
