Why Japanese baseball fans keep cheering when the team is losing

I study journalism and I am writing small essay about fan culture. In Japan, the outfield fans sing for every batter, even when team is losing by 8 runs. They clean their seats after the game too.

My friend from America said in his country fans leave early when it is a big loss. I think both are normal for each culture.

Why do you think fans in your country cheer or leave? Is it about the team or about the group of people you go with? I want to hear different countries for my essay.
