Teaching civics to 15-year-olds in an election year: a dispatch
Week seven. Highlights so far:
- A student asked if the Senate is 'like the final boss'.
- I explained gerrymandering with a pizza and they understood it immediately and were furious. Good.
- Three parents emailed to say I'm biased. They accused me of being biased in opposite directions, so I think I'm doing fine.
Honestly though, the kids are better at this than adults. They ask 'why' constantly and don't care which team you're on. Then they turn 18 and it all becomes jerseys.
