BLACKPINK's Lisa releases 'Press Play': two Seoul outlets, two ways to describe her VMA first

Lisa of BLACKPINK released her first solo EP, “Press Play”, on Friday, her first release in one year and eight months, Yonhap reports. The six-track record is led by “Tarantino” and also includes “Sawadika”, “V12”, “Cobra”, “Cut U Off” and “Sweat”. It follows her debut full-length album, “Alter Ego”, from February last year.

The Korea Herald describes the “Tarantino” music video, in which Lisa makes her way through a hotel to deliver a letter to her favourite filmmaker, Quentin Tarantino. Lisa held a listening party in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, on Thursday with a vintage Hollywood theatre theme.

Both outlets note that the earlier single “Sawadika”, filmed in her hometown of Bangkok, debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, her best solo result. The Korea Herald adds that its video drew more than 70.8 million YouTube views in 24 hours, according to her agency, the highest first-day count for a music video released in 2026.

How each outlet framed it

  • Yonhap — the release itself: track list, timing and chart record.
  • The Korea Herald — the film theme, the Seoul listening party, YouTube numbers and her documentary “Always Lalisa”, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Where the accounts differ: both mention her best pop award at last month's MTV Video Music Awards for “Dream”, but describe the record differently. Yonhap calls her the first Asian solo artist to win the prize; The Korea Herald says she was the first member of a K-pop group to receive it.
