Trump-Xi trip: maybe both sides are telling the truth in their own way?

Everybody is saying Trump exaggerated and China said nothing. Maybe yes. But I want to try other angle. The GONOM post quotes Wu Xinbo from Fudan University that China does not "necessarily go issue by issue" in leaders' meetings. So from Beijing view, a big meeting is about relationship and direction, the detail comes later by ministries.

From Washington view, a deal must be announced quick with a big number. Both styles are normal for their system. The problem is only when markets take one side's number as final, like Boeing shares did.

Also interesting Xi raised Taiwan and the shipping lanes closed by the Iran war. Trade was not the only topic.
