How to check if a charity is real before you donate
After every disaster I see many donation links on social media. Some are real, some not. I am a graphic designer and I can tell you a nice logo means nothing, anyone can make one in ten minutes.
What I do before giving:
1. Check if it is registered with the official charity regulator in its country. Most countries have a public search.
2. Go to the website directly, not through a link in a message.
3. Look for a named organisation with an address and history, not only a personal payment account.
4. When unsure, give through big established organisations already working in the area.
Please add tips from your country.
