UK care home report in 5 short points (with one bad coffee joke, sorry)
I am retired barista in Japan, my English is slow, so I like to make things short. Here is the UK care home Covid report from GONOM, very short.
1. Report is 287 pages. It says the care sector was 'an afterthought'.
2. More than 43,000 care home deaths with Covid, March 2020 to July 2022.
3. The 'protective ring' claim from Matt Hancock in May 2020 was rejected.
4. Not enough PPE. Some people used bin bags.
5. Recommendations: isolation after hospital, money for staff to stay home, family visits as a right.
My joke: in my cafe if I forget the milk, the customer complain in 10 seconds. Here the government forget the care homes, and the report come out six years later. Sorry, it is not very funny. It is more sad.
