How does a Brit get into baseball? Where do I even start?

I've got a soft spot for American sports but baseball is the one I've never cracked. Every time I try, I land on a regular-season game in July and it feels like it's happening in a different time zone of the soul.

Is postseason the right place to start? Should I pick a team first, or just watch? And is there a good radio or podcast equivalent of the BBC's ball-by-ball radio, someone who'll explain things gently while I do stocktaking?

Honest answers welcome, including 'it's not for you'.
