51 dead or missing off Libya and I almost scrolled past it
I want to be honest about something. I read the Tobruk post and my first reaction was to keep scrolling because it felt like I'd read the same story before. That's exactly the problem, isn't it.
The post cites IOM: more than 800 migrants died or went missing on the central Mediterranean route between January 1 and May 16 this year. Ten people survived out of 61 on this boat. Even the number of bodies recovered differs between AP and TradeArabia, 11 versus 16. These people are becoming rounding errors in our feeds, and I don't think the fix is more outrage. Maybe just slowing down and reading them properly.
