Emmy nominations: 'The Pitt' leads with 25, one ahead of the final season of 'Hacks'
The medical drama The Pitt led the 78th Primetime Emmy nominations with 25, announced on Wednesday, July 8, by Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller, NPR reported. The final season of Hacks was close behind with 24, followed by Widow's Bay with 19 and Pluribus with 18.
NPR counted eight first-time nominees from The Pitt's cast alone, and noted first nominations for Carey Mulligan (Beef) and Leslie Bibb (a guest role on Hacks). Among the snubs it listed The Lowdown, which was shut out entirely, and Half Man, which got only Richard Gadd's acting nomination.
Outlook India added the platform race: HBO Max with 122 nominations, Netflix with 111 and Apple TV with 87. It also listed Beef with 16 nods, including South Korean actor Youn Yuh-jung for supporting actress in a limited series.
ABC News, on its Good Morning America site, said Hacks set a record in the comedy category with its 24 nods, that 28 nominees received their first-ever nomination, and that Taylor Swift was nominated for The Eras Tour: The Final Show. It also noted rule changes: scripted variety and talk series now share one variety series category.
