My favourite free ways to learn personal finance basics (no courses to buy!)

People keep asking me where to start, so here's my list of free things that helped me and my students!

1. Your central bank's education pages. Most have plain-language explainers on inflation and interest rates. Surprisingly good!

2. Your government's consumer or money-advice service. Australia has Moneysmart, and lots of countries have something similar!

3. The library! Classic personal finance books are always there, and free!

4. Your own bank statements. Seriously! Three months of statements and a highlighter taught me more than any app!

Avoid anyone promising to make you rich, and anything with a countdown timer on the sign-up page!
