The Elder Scrolls 6 reportedly named Sentinel, set in Hammerfell, with a reveal next month

Bethesda is reportedly preparing to reveal The Elder Scrolls 6 as soon as next month, and its subtitle may be Sentinel. GameSpot reported on 29 October, citing The Verge, that the reveal could mark the 15th anniversary of Skyrim, eight years after the game was first teased.

According to the report, the game will be set in Hammerfell, a large region southwest of Skyrim already playable in The Elder Scrolls Online. GameSpot quoted The Verge's line on the story.

That means players discovering “the secrets of these mysterious ancient artifacts”, GameSpot said. Eurogamer ran the report the next morning, stressing that the reveal could come “right in the midst of Microsoft's ongoing restructuring efforts”, which have included studio closures and job cuts at Xbox this year.

How each outlet framed it

  • GameSpot — for fans: the name many had guessed, the setting and the story hook.
  • Eurogamer — the business backdrop: a flagship reveal during Xbox's cuts.

What we don't know yet: Bethesda has not confirmed the name, the setting or a reveal date. Everything here comes from one report, and there is no release window.
