why Macron go to Damascus when it is not safe?

I read about the two blasts near the hotel of Macron. One in a car, one in garbage container. He already left before, thank god.

My question is simple. Why a president go there now? The security is not ready, there was also a café bombing before with 10 people killed. Is it not too risky? In my country leaders do not go to place like this. Please explain me.
