Sherrock beats Littler in one leg to win £501,000
Fallon Sherrock beat world champion Luke Littler in a single leg of darts to win £501,000 at the live “Beat Luke Littler” event in Manchester on Friday, Sky Sports and BBC Sport report.
The format was simple: one leg of 501, with the winner taking £501,000. Sky Sports said Sherrock “did indeed beat” Littler. BBC Sport described it as an upset of the reigning world champion.
In Singapore, CNA, running a wire report, called it the “Netflix darts jackpot”. Sky Sports' report and the CNA wire story both stress the scale of the prize for a single leg against the reigning world champion.
How each outlet framed it
- Sky Sports — the result and the prize.
- BBC Sport — an upset of the world champion.
- CNA — the money and the platform: a Netflix jackpot.
What we don't know yet: whether the one-leg format will return with other challengers, and how many people watched the stream.
