Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime: Lady Gaga, Puerto Rico and a message of love vs hate

Bad Bunny headlined the halftime show at Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8. USA Today, in a report carried by AOL, says he was the first Latino male solo artist to headline the show and the first to sing it entirely in Spanish.

KTVU lists guests it spotted: Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, who both sang, plus Jessica Alba, Cardi B, Karol G, Pedro Pascal and Young Miko.

“This is for my people, my culture, and our history.” — Bad Bunny, via KTVU

Numéro describes the staging in detail: electricity poles recalling Hurricane Maria's damage to Puerto Rico in 2017, a parade of flags of the Americas ending with Canada and the United States, and a screen reading “The only thing stronger than hate is love.” It says Lady Gaga sang a salsa version of “Die with a Smile”.

How each outlet framed it

  • KTVU — the cameos, and President Donald Trump's Truth Social post calling it “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER”.
  • Numéro — a festive but political tribute to Puerto Rico and Latin culture, read as a call for unity rather than division.
  • USA Today — social media: praise from Nick Jonas, Jennifer Lopez and others, and criticism of the flags, plus Turning Point USA's rival show with Kid Rock.

Where the accounts differ: KTVU quotes Trump's post on Truth Social, while Numéro quotes him on X calling the show “a slap in the face to our country”. The reports do not say whether these were two separate posts.
