[Help] how do you research candidates without losing your mind?

Next time there's an election here I want to actually know who I'm voting for and not just follow the how-to-vote cards. But every time I try I end up in a comment section war and close the laptop.

How do you all do it? Any routine that works? Be gentle, I'm new to taking this seriously 🙏
