unpopular opinion: "just move north" is not a climate plan

Every time there is a heatwave someone online says "why don't people just move somewhere cooler". As if moving is free. As if jobs, family, language, and old parents just come with you in a suitcase.

I taught for years in a small town in Puglia. Most of my old students' families could never leave even if they wanted to. Ok, rant over. Tell me I'm wrong.
