Logistics person explains: how shipping costs sneak into your supermarket bill

I work as a logistics coordinator in Izmir, so I see the boring part of prices that nobody talks about!

When you buy a TV or a bag of coffee, part of the price is the container that brought it. If container rates double, it doesn't show up the next day. It shows up 2-4 months later, after stock bought at the old price runs out. Same when rates fall: shops are slow to cut prices.

Other hidden bits: port fees, fuel surcharges, insurance, and the truck from the port to the warehouse. Each one is small, together they add up.

So when you see a price jump and think "but the news said shipping got cheaper", that's the lag! Ask me anything, I love this stuff!
