Unpopular opinion: five interview rounds for a normal job is disrespectful
I work in HR, so maybe I am criticising my own profession. But I see more and more companies with four, five, six rounds of interviews, plus a take-home exercise, for jobs that are not senior at all.
Candidates take holidays to attend. Some do a full weekend of unpaid work for the exercise. Then they get an automatic rejection email, or nothing.
Why do we do this? I think part of it is fear of choosing wrong, and part is that nobody wants to take the decision alone. What do you think? How many rounds did your last job have?
